Busch Gardens announces birth of critically endangered Bornean orangutan

TAMPA, Fla. — Busch Gardens of Tampa Bay has welcomed a critically endangered Bornean orangutan, the topic park declared on its social media on Sunday.

A Fb post claimed she was sent by way of cesarean section Saturday night time by a team of professional medical and zoological specialists to Luna, its resident Bornean orangutan. The new infant weighs 3.4 lbs.

Luna is recovering from surgical procedure at the orangutan property and was launched to her toddler the next morning.

Busch Gardens claimed as soon as they are both stabilized, they’ll be reunited and monitored by the vet staff and animal treatment professionals.
